On average,  an emergency air ambulance takes off every 10 minutes in the UK,  flying 365 a year in daylight hours. Put it another way,  during every hour of every day 7 Air Ambulances are attending accidents and medical trauma.

The Air Training Corps (A.T.C.) is a national voluntary youth organisation, established in 1941 by King George VI. It is sponsored by the Royal Air Force and provides challenging aviation, adventurous and community activities. The aims of the Corps, as defined by Royal Warrant, are: To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force. To provide training which will be useful in the Service and in civilian life. To foster the spirit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship. These aims are achieved by: Providing progressive training in aviation related subjects. Encouraging participation in a variety of activities including adventure training, flying, gliding and citizenship training. Developing personal qualities such as initiative, resourcefulness and the ability to work as a member of a team.

Alafia promotes action and support for the carers of minority ethnic young people and children with disabilities (0-25. It's based at the Reading Council for Racial Equality and is funded and actively supported by Reading Borough Council (Social Services and Education). Alafia works closely with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies, locally and nationally.

The Alternatives to Violence Project runs group workshops to help people deal with violence,  anger,  aggression and conflict. We deliver workshops across the UK in prisons,  in the community and for other charities.

Dementia can happen to anyone and there's currently no cure. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and the number is set to rise to 1 million by 2021. At Alzheimer's Society, we believe passionately that life doesn't end when dementia begins. Irlam is a 24 hour rescue sanctuary on call out for wild life and pets that have been injured,  starved or cruelly treated which have one to care for them. Irlam takes on peoples unwanted pets to rehome. We neuter all and microchip the dogs.
